FAQs about Invisalign Hertfordshire

invisalign-hertfordshire

In recent times, there has been an upsurge in dental patients asking about realignment treatments in their adult years.

And in the past, this would have meant the wearing of a fitted metal brace which, due to the demands of modern dental patients, is not considered an option unless necessary. It is fair to say that modern dental patients want something a little bit more discreet!

And this is where invisible aligners come into play.

At Elegance Dental, our team has been using Invisalign Hertfordshire to help patients get the straighter smiles they want without the hassle of a metal brace. This aligner is visually discreet, easy to use and does not require the appointments and tightenings that a traditional brace would.

But for many people, undertaking an invisible aligner is uncharted territory, and many patients wish to know more about the aligner. Here, our team answers the most common questions that we receive about Invisalign Hertfordshire.

Who is suitable for this aligner?

If you have all your adult teeth, have a mild to moderate misalignment and can be trusted to adhere to the prescription of an invisible aligner, then it is likely that you will be deemed suitable for Invisalign Hertfordshire.

How long will the process take?

Unlike traditional braces, invisible aligners can get you the smile that you want in an accelerated time. Depending on the severity of the misalignment, you may be able to have your teeth realigned in as little as 3 to 6 months.

However, for your orthodontic timeline to stay on track, you will need to wear the aligner for a minimum of 22 hours a day and send weekly smile updates or selfies to our team via the app that accompanies this aligner. This will allow us to assess whether there is an issue with the realignment treatment and provide advice on what steps to take.

How do I keep my aligners clean?

The aligners themselves are made of clear plastic, so they can easily be cleaned by just rinsing them under a cold tap and, if needed, using a soft-bristled toothbrush to remove excess debris or food from them.

You should aim to do this twice a day, and if necessary, you can invest in cleaning crystals designed for aligners or dentures, which will give them a minty fresh taste! Do not under any circumstances rinse your aligner under hot water as this can cause them to warp out of shape.

Will I need checkups?

Yes, you will need to attend checkups with our team; these will be less frequent than those attended by people wearing traditional braces.

On average, we will need to see you every 6 to 8 weeks, and as mentioned earlier, you will need to send us weekly photographs or selfies of your smile so that we can assess whether the treatment is working as predicted.

Is it expensive?

Invisible aligners are not as expensive as many people think, and their costs are linked to the number of appointments that you will undertake with our team and any adjustments that may be needed to the aligners.

We can also offer you 0% finance if you are eligible, which will help you spread the cost.
