Dentists’ involvement in our lives has gradually increased as we realise the importance of our teeth. The days of going to visit your dentist only when you had a toothache or a loose tooth have been replaced by the need to ensure that your teeth look good. The motivation is less important than the result, which is that your teeth and gums remain healthy and that you can smile proudly.
Some are less lucky than others
Some patients were born with amazingly straight teeth, while others were not so lucky; perhaps due to a minor accident when they bashed their teeth or a bad habit of thumb sucking, they have crooked teeth. Over time, a variety of appliances, techniques and equipment have been developed to help treat misaligned teeth.
You are the winner
When a new smartphone or application appears on the market, the last thought that crosses our minds is, “how will that affect my teeth?” Yet all the technological advances made have contributed to helping many aspects of our lives, apart from being able to text, call or play games on the move. From a dental point of view, the treatments for misaligned teeth have made enormous strides because of technology. The initial type of dental braces has been improved beyond recognition, and others have been added to provide more customised treatment. Aligners such as Invisalign Hertfordshire have been introduced to the array of appliances at our disposal.
It’s a win-win for everyone
At Elegance Dental, we utilise Invisalign Hertfordshire and all the software and hardware associated with the network involved in the dental treatment. Our Itero 3D digital scanner produces a completely “gag-free” dental impression experience for you and wonderfully clear and defined images of your oral cavity. This image can be produced within ten minutes without the need to take a manual impression.
In today’s modern, fast-paced world, time is important to you and us, and Invisalign allows us to progress quickly, meaning that you spend less time in the dental chair. Before even starting the treatment, the Invisalign Hertfordshire software allows us to show you a virtual image of what your smile will look like after it has been treated. All of your information is then sent digitally to the laboratory, again reducing transit time.
A different process
When your Invisalign aligners arrive, you will notice that they differ from conventional dental braces because they resemble gum shields and not the usual blocks, wires and bands associated with dental misalignment correction. The number of aligners produced for your treatment depends on your condition. We will fit your first aligner for you, which may feel a bit tight, to begin with, but this sensation will gradually ease. You must wear each aligner for a minimum of 22 hours a day over 10 to 14 days. You may remove the aligners before brushing your teeth or having a meal. The aligners each have their own orientation, designed to gradually move your teeth to result in a straight and correct bite.
At the end of your treatment, you will need to wear a retainer for a few weeks and then less regularly as time passes to ensure that your teeth remain in their new positions. You will be able to display your new, straight teeth with a broad confident smile.
