What are the benefits of Invisalign?

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign Hertfordshire is a means of straightening the teeth without any wires or brackets.  Instead, the patient is given a set of customised trays that are made of super soft plastic to place over their teeth. These trays, also known as aligners, are placed over the teeth and are completely transparent.

The patient is given a new set of aligners every couple of weeks. Each set gently applies targeted pressure to the teeth and gradually moves them into the best possible position. At the end of treatment, it is usually recommended that the patient wears a retainer at night to help maintain the new position of the teeth and prevent them from moving back into misalignment.

Treatment with Invisalign Hertfordshire is usually much faster than with other kinds of braces. In many cases it is completed within a matter of months, rather than a year or two which can happen with traditional braces using wires and brackets.

Easy to keep clean

Because aligners are removable, it is easy to keep them clean and to maintain good oral health during treatment. The patient simply takes them out, brushes their teeth thoroughly and then replaces the aligners after rinsing with water to remove any debris.

This means that food and plaque are unlikely to fester on the teeth, or between the teeth and the braces. The result of this is that the patient can continue to enjoy fresh breath and clean teeth both during and after wearing the aligners.

Minimal time at the dentist

We understand that our patients are often very busy people who do not necessarily have hours to devote to sitting in the dentist’s chair. This type of patient is often a good candidate for Invisalign because after the treatment has been started, it requires minimal intervention.  There is no need for us to manually adjust the braces, we can simply hand over the new aligners when needed and allow the patient to get on with their day. This means that they get the smile they want without compromising on their work and family commitments.
